Teidil/Title of Exhibition: ‘Shifting Sands’,

A photographic journey through the sand dunes of Corca Dhuibhne, focusing on the Maharees and Ceann Trá, to highlight coastal erosion.
Sand dunes are a delicate and dynamic environment, that have been taking the brunt of frequent violent storms, exacerbated by Climate Change. The Maharees community have come together to try and protect the sand dunes from shift and erosion.
The sand dunes in Ceann Trá have seen a high level of erosion during the past couple of winters. While this is a natural process due to the dynamic nature of sand dunes, stronger storms have contributed to more dramatic changes that effect our environment and ultimately the communities that rely on it.
Through the medium of photography, I would like to bring this important issue to the attention of the people of Corca Dhuibhne.
