Morley Hill – Chrinetics and paintings on paper
Morley Hill is one of multiple pseudonyms used by the UK born artist Nik Taylor.
The Morley Hill project commenced 10 years ago, based around a series of paintings on paper and sculptures using found wood. It’s origins are in science fiction themes and architectural folly.
In 2015 Taylor moved to County Kerry and began a self-funded cabinet making apprenticeship at Goose Island Workshop in Castlegregory. He spent 2 years learning the craft of fine woodworking; studying traditional carpentry methods. The resulting kinetic objects, shown at Féile Na Bealtaine 2018, are titled Chrinetics. Also exhibited will be a series of paintings on paper whose composition and subject matter are derived from a collection of scrapbooks.
Nik Taylor’s work has been shown in the UK, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway and Ireland. In 2017 he was awarded creative work development and materials bursaries from Kerry County Council.
