Zoë is a visual artist with a collaborative and socially engaged practice, using natural materials, found objects, performance, film and sound recording to connect with place. She co-designs and facilitates creative environmental projects to encourage nature connection, empathy, and playful curiosity in both children and adults.
Tá scannán gearr (faoi bhun 5 nóiméad) i gceist sa tsuiteáil seo agus cuirfear cluasáin ar fáil chun na fuaimeanna a chlos. Beidh amharcealaíona 2-T agus 3-T agus priontaí grianghrafadóireachta le feiscint chomh maith.
This shrine-like installation creatively documents the artist’s research into lichen and what we as humans can learn from them, their deeply slow growth habits and their state of ultra-symbiosis. How can a shift in our thinking around individuality help to lead us on a path of greater connection to each other, and to rediscover our place within and as part of nature? Zoë’s interest in lichen has resulted in video, photography, earth pigment paintings and delicate sculptural pieces. This is a multi-sensory experience for audiences. As usual her work comes from a collaboration with place: the materials carefully gathered from her surroundings. Part of the work was developed during a residency at Interface in the beautiful Inagh valley, Connemara awarded by Ealaín na Gaeltachta in 2024.
An accompanying creative essay will also be part of the exhibit.
