‘Ar an Imeall’/ ‘On the Edge’ is a bilingual sound installation created for TG4 television series, Creative Company, which countered/pitted teams of non-artists from varied businesses around the country against each other, to create pieces of art. The television show, broadcast in 2020, followed their progress over six weeks, from initial ideas stage to the final piece. Dingle Hub was one of these companies, with a team comprising both Hub staff and Hub users. The concept for ‘Ar an Imeall’ comes from our team’s  shared experience of moving to the Dingle Peninsula or returning here; it explores the idea of taking a step into the unknown to create a better life and considers what it’s like to take a risk and to live on the edge. It challenges the viewer to consider these questions and to take action. Other themes which emerge include the concept of home, of freedom, of enjoying the little things, of living life to the full. The recordings and soundscape were recorded in three atmospheric and inspirational locations on the peninsula – Cuas pier, Mt. Brandon & Gallarus Oratory.

Is suiteán fuaime dhá theangach é ‘Ar an Imeall’/ ‘On the Edge’ a chruthaíodh do ‘Creative Company’, sraith theilifíse TG4; cuireadh foirne ó ghnóthaí timpeall na hÉireann i gcoinne a chéile chun píosaí ealaíne a chruthú. Lean an clár teilifíse an dul chun cinn a bhí déanta ag na foirne thar sé seachtaine, ó na céad smaointe ag an tús go dtí an píosa críochnaithe ag an deireadh. Bhí Dingle Hub páirteach sa sraith agus ba iad baill na foirne ná daoine fostaithe ag an Hub agus daoine ag baint úsáid as spás sa Hub.Tagann an coincheap don bpíosa ‘Arn an Imeall’ ón dtaithí coiteann atá ag gach duine san fhoireann againn bogadh go Chorca Dhuibhne nó filleadh ar ais anseo; déanann an píosa seo iniúchadh ar chéim a thógaint isteach sa dorchadas chun saol níos fearr a chruthú/chur ar bun agus féachann sé ar conas a bhraitheann sé chun dul sa tseans agus a bheith ag maireachtaint ar an imeall. Tugann sé dúshlán don lucht féachana/éisteachta a bheith ag smaoineamh faoi na ceisteanna seo agus athrú a dhéanamh ina saolta féin. Téamaí eile a thagann amach as an bpíosa ná coincheap an bhaile, na saoirse, agus taitneamh a bhaint as rudaí simplí agus an saol. Taifeadadh é ag áiteanna ionspioráideacha ar an leithinis – Cuan, Cnoc Bhréanainn & Séipéilín Ghallarais
