Catherine Young is Kerry County Council dancer in residence and artistic director of Catherine Young Dance and The Welcoming Project – a progamme designed to foster cultural integration & social inclusion for Ireland’s new communities through dance. Catherine has been training in West African dance for 20 years and travels regularly to Africa to study with her teachers there in Mandinke (djembe) style as well as more recently in the local Sarouba style from Casamance.
