Deirdre Mc Kenna – Téarnamh (emergence)

Téarnamh (emergence) revisits the Ar Scáth a Chéile project with an installation of the full collection of flags, over 1,300 of them, that were made last year as a way to bring people together  when it was impossible to do so due to Covid restrictions. The flags were made mostly by the local community but many also arrived from much further afield to be part of something that would be a symbol of togetherness and celebration in a time of isolation.  A year on, the landscape in which we live has changed in ways we could not have imagined a year ago. This installation creates a space to reflect, to dream, to lose oneself or to simply admire.

Breis is 1,300 brat in aon seomra amháin! Insealmhú é seo a thugann súil siar ar an domhan mar a bhí againn bliain ó shin. Thug na sluaite faoi bhrat a dhéanamh, idir fuáil, maisiú, cróise agus dathú. Tá siad lán de íomhánna, d’fhilíocht, de scéalta, de mhachnaimh agus de urnaithe an phobail.
