Managing our Uplands for everyone –

Gearrscannán agus Caint

Too often farmers and the environment are seen as opposite sides of an argument. But the reality is far more nuanced and hopeful than this simple narrative.

In Dinnseanchas, a short film made during an artistic upland residency led by Hometree, you are invited into the lore and complexities of these places. Artists across six locations in the West of Ireland, explored the culture, environment and the lived realities of upland farmers and communities. One of these artists, Zoë Rush, explored Corca Dhuibhne over one year.

This screening will be followed by a talk on Hometree’s exciting project on our neighbouring Iveragh peninsula to help farmers financially and practically to work with nature in regenerating our upland ecologies and cultures. Local man, Rob Fell, atá I gceannas ar an dtionscadal, will reveal the dream, the plan and what’s been achieved so far.

This will be followed by a panel and Q&A with Rob, Zoë and local farmers on ongoing projects in Corca Dhuibhne and the across Hometree’s sites that recontextualise the relationship between land stewardship, farming and our wider environmental and economic systems.
