Medea

Seo sraith íomhánna, cruthaithe ag Domhnal Ó Bric le péint, dúch, cailc, luaidhe agus gual ar pháipéar, bunaithe ar an ndráma Medea.   Chum Euripedes an dráma tragóideach Ghréigeach Medea sa 5ú Chéad RC. B’é seo an chéad téacs liteartha san Eoraip a chuir meon agus cás mná san áit lárnach. Pléann an scéal, go diamhair, le téamaí ar nós cearta daonna, cumhacht, easpa cumhachta agus mífhreagracht, cumha agus deoraíocht, dóchas agus dubhachas, daonnacht agus dúchas, fiantas agus sibhialtacht, anord agus ord, feallaireacht agus briseadh croí, brú anama agus céasadh intinne agus an tragóid uafásach a leanann na rudaí seo go léir mura féidir teacht ar réiteacht agus tuiscint éigin in am. This is a series of images, created by Domhnal Ó Bric with paint, ink, chalk, lead and coal on paper, based on the Greek tragedy

Medea

Euripedes wrote this play in the 5th Century BC. This was the first literary text in Europe that placed the thoughts and rights of women in the foreground. The story is tragically told with themes concerning basic human rights, balances of power, responsibility and betrayal of trust, migration and exile, hope and despair, nature and heritage, wildness and civilisation, chaos and order, deception and heartbreak, spiritual agony and mental torment and the awful tragedies that can ensue if these issues aren’t recognised in time with some kind of understanding and agreement.
