| This workshop enables anyone, of any age, even without previous creative experience, to enjoy decorating paper and creating a community collage. Since the sun and light is the focus of Bealtaine, the workshop focuses on colour (a manifestation of light). My own mixed-media work (on display around the same room), uses many techniques and materials, and celebrates colour and light.
Participants (anyone dropping by) can use a range of traditional techniques with a contemporary twist. All materials are provided along with personal instruction if required (instructions will be written up so you can choose your technique). Techniques offered include: Painting with brushes/objects; stencilling using lace, doilies etc; printmaking using leaves, lids, bubble wrap etc; sgraffito (scratching away paint with stick); resists (drawing with wax crayon before painting); drawing with pencils, crayons; frottage (rubbing over textured lids etc); stamping using biscuit cutters, foam shapes; monoprinting on card.
