Marc McMenamin is a teacher and documentary maker. A specialist in exploring uncharted corners of Irish history, he is also the creator of several acclaimed radio documentaries with RTÉ’s Documentary on One, including ‘Good Cop/Bad Cop’, exploring the life of controversial former NYPD officer Peter Daly; and ‘Richard Hayes, Nazi Codebreaker’, which became McMenamin’s bestselling book, Code Breaker.
In mountaineering history, one question has lingered for almost a century: Did explorers George Mallory and Andrew Irvine conquer Mount Everest’s summit almost three decades before Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay’s historic ascent in 1953? The disappearance of Mallory and Irvine has been a subject of intrigue for generations. In this talk Marc Mc Menamin explores the Irish connections to the story and attempts to unravel the mystery.
