Exhibition to highlight what lies abandoned in fields and on road sides and to see the possibilities for potential future use. Rusted farm machinery, scrap metal, rolled and forgotten fencing, all waiting for the earth to slowly fold them into history. Employing the philosophy of trust as a starting point, leads to enigmatic imagery. Trust in itself is mercurial. Who do we trust and why? What do we trust in the every day?
Trust is a necessary concept for survival in this complex world. Therefore we take unconscious risks daily that allow us to balance our lives. These choices are subliminal. They are the road taken, or the path missed. In the every day, blind faith leads us on. It is within this philosophy that I engage in making paintings. To render
symbols that are subconsciously encountered yet leave indelible marks on our psyche. Most of all, to harvest what is personally symbolic and fold
these into a broader visual spectrum. In trust, the concept of imperfection being a requirement of enlightenment. ‘If you do not tell the truth about yourself you cannot tell it about other
people’ (Man Ray)
