Ponc Press reading of Brida Liath, by Simon O’Faoláin and Camilla Dinkel with an introduction from local historian Dr Conor Brosnan. Bríde Liath is one of the most enigmatic and affecting stories from the years of the famine. She was one of the few known survivors of the Great Hunger, living into her nineties having buried all her family. Her speech over the grave of her last child, and especially the strange speech she made about the potato, came down to us by word of mouth, and they are still discussed today.

Tháinig a haitheasc os cionn uaigh a linbh dheireanaigh, agus go háirithe an chaint ait a chuir sí ar an bpráta, anuas chughainn ó bhéal go béal, agus bíonn siad fós á bplé sa lá inniu.

Bí linn chun an scéal seo a chíoradh go dlúth.
