Sudden Wells is a musical project led by composer and songwriter Michael Gallen, formerly of Dublin-based band Ana Gog. The band brings together some of Ireland and Europe’s finest musicians, creating an atmospheric sound that merges an intimate, lyrical quality with expansive, pulsating musical arrangements.

Michael will be joined onstage by the musical force of local musician Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and Patrick O’Laoighaire aka I have a Tribe.

As a composer Michael Gallen has collaborated extensively with orchestras and ensembles in Ireland and internationally, and his work is frequently performed at festivals across Europe. He is the Artistic Director of music-theatre company Straymaker. His opera Elsewhere premiered at the Abbey Theatre in 2021, described by the Irish Times as “an extraordinary, shocking, funny, and, ultimately, moving piece of contemporary theatre”. He is currently composing an orchestral work entitled Bád ón Alltar, commissioned by the National Concert Hall, the Ulster Orchestra and the Orchestre National de Bretagne, as well as developing new Straymaker show The Curing Line.

A debut Sudden Wells LP was recorded at Killyon Manor, with a release and touring planned for Autumn 2024.
