This is a unique opportunity to see two of Clare Langan’s multi-screen films The Floating World and The Winter of 13 Storms.

The Floating World explores how mankind’s high aspirations have strayed and led to the decline of civilization. Its centre point is what appears to be a floating abandoned city referencing how our current culture of progress, greed and financial gain could lead to our downfall. The Floating World comprises of a film shot in three distinctly different places, geographically, symbolically and historically: Skellig Michael, the top of the Burj Kalifa, Dubai and the town of Plymouth, Montserrat.

The Winter of 13 Storms explores the disconnection between two people and the environment. Shot on the Dingle Peninsula with choreographer Maria Nilsson Waller, the two protagonists inhabit opposing environments trying to connect, but never succeeding. Through visual storytelling, the work explores the emotional and psychological terrain of our time.

The films are shot by Clare Langan and Oscar nominated cinematographer Robbie Ryan, and feature the music of late Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, as well as music by composers Hildur Guðnadóttir, Judith Ring and Jana Winderen.
