This exhibition will explore the complex history of the colour blue, from its ancient beginnings as a colour with no name, to its

associations with barbarism, right through to its modern-day ubiquity.

From early works of art that pushed their creators into debt, to the distinctive patterns of blue and white porcelain found in most

homes today, this show will celebrate the ways in which blue has been used to evoke a sense of the sky and the sea.

Along the way, it will explore how this colour has been both revered and reviled throughout the centuries, and why it remains Europe’s favourite hue today.”

Breathnaíonn an taispéantas seo thar an stair casta datha ghoirm. Ó a thosaigh ársa mar dath gan ainm, go a chaidreamh le

barbarthacht, díreach go dtí a uileláithreacht nua-aimseartha. Ó shean saothair ealaíne a tharraing fiacha ar a gcruthaitheoirí

go dtí patrúin suntasacha ghoirm agus gealchraicneach atá i dtithe ar fúd na háite inniu.

Tabharfaidh an seó seo ómos do na caíonna a bhfuil gorm i úsáid chun mothú spéire is farraige a dhúisigh.

Síos an cosán, féachaimid thart ar an gcaoi a raibh gorm díblithe agus an caoi a raibh ardmheas air leis na gcéadta bliain anuas,

agus ann fáth go bhfuil sé dath is fearr na hEorpa inniu.
