Talking to unseen presences is a common human activity. In the 21 st century to commune with nature, to pray to God, to talk to our ancestors are considered superstitious acts, yet we regularly, and unselfconsciously talk to computers; Google, Siri, Alexa, ChatGPT. Is this cutting edge progress or just another instance of the human urge to engage with non-human intelligence? This interactive session will allow us to reflect on how our distant past is reflected the present, and what we might learn from this.
